Business Department Promotes New Online MBA
"Putting Reach in What We Teach"

Dr. Edison Moura, Assistant Professor of Business (L) and Claudia Wright, Admissions Director introduce Piedras Negras maquiladora factory managers to new online MBA. Dr. Moura, along with RGC business professors, have actively recruited MBA program registrations among the management staffs of some 65 factories in Priedras Negras and Cuidad Acuna.
Citing low tuition costs and high-quality course work for a degree plan that will open doors for upper-level managers, SRSU Rio Grande College is promoting a new Masters of Business Administration program that's as accessible as a keyboard.
RGC's standard MBA coursework has been tailored for online instruction as a convenience to students fully occupied with business or management careers.
Registration for the new online MBA begins in January with the start of the spring semester. At $4,476, or $373 for each of the program's 12 courses, the Rio Grande College MBA is priced hundreds of dollars below other online courses.
"Our online MBA is a breakthrough for my department and for students who want advance their careers but can't attend traditional classes," explains Dr. Terry Carson, chair of RGC's Business Administration Department. "It allows students an opportunity to broaden their skills and connect with the latest concepts, tools, processes, techniques and horizons in their fields."
Visit rgc.sulross.edu or call (830) 279-3001 for full details, including a three-payment option that stretches out tuition costs.
Dr. Edison Moura, the Business Department's specialist in international marketing and trade, is introducing the online program to managers of maquiladora factories in Piedras Negras and Cuidad Acuña. More than 65 binational manufacturing firms operate from these Mexican cities.
"Most of the plant managers, as well as some corporate-level administrators, are interested in our program because of its cost and overall convenience," explains Dr. Moura. "Some of the firms are even considering the incentive of paying their manager's tuition costs."
Foreign students without an undergraduate degree from the US must take the Test of English as a Second Language, or schedule a personal interview with Dr. Carson at (830) 279-3025). Special visas are available for Mexican students who enroll for traditional classes at RGC's campuses in Del Rio, Eagle Pass and Uvalde.
The program holds special incentives for international students and can be pursued as a dual degree through a unique agreement with the Universidad Autonoma de Coahuila, leading to an MBA degree that is honored in both the United States and Mexico.
