Smarthinking

Sul Ross Rio Grande College has added a new service to assist students. Students may now receive tutorial assistance in writing and several other areas from Smarthinking, an online service offering 24-hour-a-day help.

Students may submit papers for high-level review which will guide them in improving their written work. A paper submitted to Smarthinking will be reviewed and returned to the student within 24 hours.

The service will not write the paper, nor will it rewrite a paper, but it will guide students with assistance in where the paper needs improvement. A student may also elect to have a live chat with an etutor -- an online conversation on questions.

Once logged into Smarthinking, students may select the sort of help they need. When the session is finished, it will keep a record of the activity for the student's future reference.

To find out more about how Smarthinking can assist, students may go to Smarthinking home page (see the box on this page) and run the tutorial. Students may also want to download the Student Handbook available on this page or view the Flash video which shows how Smarthinking works. Anyone on a dialup connection may want to access these files from a faster Internet connection in one of the RGC computer labs.

Smarthinking is a highly-regarded and widely-used service which the college believes will give students the assistance they need. All students are encouraged to take advantage of this service.
