RGC Tech Support Resolution
Whereas fulfilling Rio Grande College's mission of delivering high quality undergraduate and graduate education across thirteen counties depends on fully-functioning and effectively-maintained computer and teleconferencing technologies; and
Whereas RGC Blackboard and teleconferencing systems repeatedly fail to work properly; and
Whereas, the Blackboard and teleconferencing technologies are inadequately maintained and supported by OIT; therefore
Be it resolved that the RGC Faculty Senate request the administration to take the following steps to guarantee uninterrupted delivery of RGC courses by ensuring that Blackboard and teleconferencing systems function effectively:
1. Qualified OIT staff persons shall be accessible to faculty at Del Rio, Eagle Pass and Uvalde during day and evening hours to ensure that Blackboard and teleconferencing systems work effectively.
2. Teleconferencing technology shall be checked by OIT staff prior to each class to ensure that video/audio systems function properly.
3. Upgrades, tests and other work on Blackboard and teleconferencing systems shall be conducted in such ways that course delivery is never impacted. 4. Technical support decisions shall be made with faculty input.
